In the end of September it is time to harvest the white grapes and then follows the red grapes. All in all it will take about 2-3 weeks. Since we don´t know anything about wine harvest the seller offered to help us out. Fairly good of him.
I don´t know if I will get time off to be there but it is also the time for signing, complete the buy. So it would be good if I could go there as well. Lasse will be there for about two weeks anyway. He will work and learn at the same time. Hopefully we can manage on our own next year. Maybe with the help of our neighbours.
The seller told us that they were normally around 15 people during the harvest. He pay for three and the rest are family, neighbours and friends if I understood everything correctly. The seller said that they harvest in the mornings and in the afternoon they drink and eat. When you think of it it seems quite inefficient. Why not work full days and have a big festa in the end?
We must learn Portuguese as soon as possible so we can get by, at least a bit. We are going to evening classes this autumn so you can least speak a few phrases.
